Respecta headquarters refurbished using Hoesch Planeel Sidings

The new Hoesch Planeel Siding facade system is suitable for both new buildings and refurbishment projects. A good example of the latter is provided by Respecta: The company bought a roughly 40-year-old building and refurbished the facade of its future headquarters using 700 square meters of steel panelling from the Color/Construction Business Unit. The result is a success: The patented mounting system was able to compensate for the very large construction tolerances and allowed the joints to be matched up to the windows. The “matt-de-luxe” coating in two grey tones – based on a colour in the logo of the specialist engineering company – has given the building a high-quality, individual appearance. Integrated insulation helps keep heating costs down.

ReflectionsPearl: Facades accentuated by play of colours

Good, better, ReflectionsPearl – the new coil coating from the Color/Construction Business Unit attracted major interest at DEUBAU 2012 in Essen in mid January. ReflectionsPearl is the first collection of its kind for steel and offers a unique appearance: The combination of special-effect paints and light surface texturing produces an elegant look that varies depending on light and viewing angle to create a changing play of colours. 16 exclusive coordinated tones are available in six colour scales, offering architects and clients maximum freedom when it comes to designing facades. The hot-dip coated ZM EcoProtect® substrate ensures excellent corrosion resistance. The first reference projects are already being carried out.

Hotel Berlin Airport: Extravagant “matt-de-luxe” facade

Construction work continues on the new Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BBI), which will be the most modern in Europe. The adjacent Hotel Berlin Airport is already resplendent in its extravagant facade. During the design process, the renowned architect Ralf Petersen decided to use the innovative Hoesch Planeel Siding system, selecting the exclusive “matt-de-luxe” colour collection. Twelve matte colour tones were combined for the airport hotel and laid in a horizontal pattern. The effect: a new appearance that eliminates ambient reflections. Some 4,000 square meters of the rear-ventilated facade system from ThyssenKrupp Steel Europe’s Color/Construction Business Unit were used on the four-story hotel with integrated shopping zone.
